A Framework for Knowledge-Based Complex Event Processing
نویسنده
چکیده
Detection, prediction and mastery of complex situations are crucial to the competitiveness of networked businesses, the efficiency of internet of services and dynamic distributed infrastructures in manifold domains such as finance/banking, logistics, automotive, telecommunication, e-health and life sciences. Complex Event Processing (CEP) is an enabling technology to achieve actionable, situational knowledge from high throughput event streams almost close to the real-time. In this talk I will give an overview on the main concepts and technologies of complex event processing and introduce my research about the combination of event processing with semantic technologies which leads to semantic-rich event processing engines. I will present the main research problem on utilization of background knowledge about events and other relevant concepts for enabling knowledge-based complex event processing. This integration enhances the expressiveness of event processing semantics and facilitates the specification of event patterns based on the relations of events in the background knowledge graph. I will describe our approach for the specification and processing of complex events based on domain background knowledge that are included from external knowledge bases. Die Disputation besteht aus dem o. g. Vortrag, danach der Vorstellung der Dissertation einschließlich jeweils anschließenden Aussprachen. Interessierte werden hiermit herzlich eingeladen Der Vorsitzende der Promotionskommission Prof. Dr. A. Paschke

A Systematic Review of the Key Success Factors of Sports Event Management: A Resource-based View Approach
Background. Many countries worldwide use sports events as a tool to stimulate both their national and local economies. To gain a competitive advantage, knowledge of sports event success is essential for stakeholders and hosting countries. However, due to the diverse conceptualizations of event success, the knowledge of the issue is fragmented, and there is a lack of comprehensive studies for sc...
متن کاملA discrete-event optimization framework for mixed-speed train timetabling problem
Railway scheduling is a complex task of rail operators that involves the generation of a conflict-free train timetable. This paper presents a discrete-event simulation-based optimization approach for solving the train timetabling problem to minimize total weighted unplanned stop time in a hybrid single and double track railway networks. The designed simulation model is used as a platform for ge...
متن کاملAn integrated simulation-DEA approach to multi-criteria ranking of scenarios for execution of operations in a construction project
The purpose of this study is to examine different scenarios for implementing operations in the pre-construction phase of a project, based on several competing criteria with different importance levels in order to achieve a more efficient execution plan. This paper presents a new framework that integrates discrete event simulation (DES) and data envelopment analysis (DEA) to rank different scena...
متن کاملProcessing of Complex Stock Market Events Using Background Knowledge
Usage of background knowledge about events and their relations to other concepts in the application domain, can improve the quality of event processing. In this paper, we describe a system for knowledge-based event detection of complex stock market events based on available background knowledge about stock market companies. Our system profits from data fusion of live event streams and backgroun...
متن کاملDevelopment of the Translating Allied Health Knowledge (TAHK) Framework
Background While evidence-based practice is a familiar concept to allied health clinicians, knowledge translation (KT) is less well known and understood. The need for a framework that enables allied health clinicians to access and engage with KT was identified. The aim of this paper is to describe the development of the Translating Allied Health Knowledge (TAHK) Framework. M...
